The Committee
The Dialogue Fiji Committee comprises of founding members, members selected from the Citizens’ Assembly, and one government member appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office. The Committee consists of between 8 to 12 members.
Responsibilities
The Committee members have the following responsibilities to assist guide and steer the strategic direction of Dialogue Fiji forward:
- Participate in Dialogue Fiji strategic planning workshops (every 4 months).
- Provide direction to the work of the Dialogue Fiji Secretariat through attending monthly Dialogue Fiji Committee meetings.
- If a member is unavailable for a Committee meeting, they should where possible provide a delegated replacement from within their organisation/network.
- Approve Dialogue Fiji event strategies and approaches, including; facilitation strategy and approach for Dialogue Fiji Events – objectives, outcomes and broad agenda, communications strategy, and training programmes.
- Provide input into Participant lists for Dialogue Fiji events.
- Aid in promoting the Dialogue Fiji initiative.
- Aid in encouraging specific participants to attend dialogue events.
- Provide personnel and organisational resources and support to the Dialogue Fiji Secretariat where possible and appropriate.
Committee Member Obligations
- Refrain from using the Secretariat’s resources for individual and/or organisational benefit.
- To participate in Dialogue Fiji events as observers/evaluators/aid facilitation only as specified for each event.
- Refrain from initiating/inserting specific organisational advocacy issues in Dialogue Fiji events, unless agreed by the Committee.
- Attend a Dialogue Fiji Committee orientation upon appointment to the Committee.
Committee Observers
The Committee members can nominate an observer to the Secretariat to be approved by the Dialogue Fiji Committee.
Observer status – Observers, upon invitation by a Committee member, can attend Dialogue Fiji meetings but cannot participate in decision making, unless the observer is part of a Sub-Committee.
The Secretariat is to ensure the observer is informed that they can participate in the discussion but not in decision making, unless the observer is part of a sub committee.
