Selection of Committee
The Citizens Assembly reviews and confirms the membership of the Dialogue Fiji Committee. A maximum of two (2) Dialogue Fiji Committee members maybe replaced at each annual Citizens Assembly.
A call for nominations is be made prior to the Citizens Assembly, in which nominations (including self-nominations) are received by the Secretariat to be presented at the Citizens Assembly.
Any Dialogue Fiji Committee member who has missed three (3) consecutive committee meetings (while present in Fiji), as monitored by the Secretariat, will be asked and expected to step-down from the Dialogue Fiji Committee.
In the event that a member of the Dialogue Fiji Committee cannot fulfill his/her responsibility and steps-down from the Committee, (e.g. they fail to attend three (3) consecutive Dialogue Fiji Committee meetings), the DF Committee has the right to select a replacement, and this decision must be ratified at the following Citizens Assembly.

Direction to Secretariat
The primary means for the Dialogue Fiji Committee to provide direction to the Secretariat is through Dialogue Fiji Committee meetings (typically held monthly). Meeting Rules:
Secretariat direction outside of Dialogue Fiji Committee meetings can be given through email upon the Dialogue Fiji Secretariat’s request, email direction process:
- All decisions made at committee meetings will be through consensus.
- 50% of Dialogue Fiji Committee members provide a quorum.
- The meeting chair will be assigned on a rotational basis, to be decided at the beginning of each meeting.
Secretariat direction outside of Dialogue Fiji Committee meetings can be given through email upon the Dialogue Fiji Secretariat’s request, email direction process:
- The Dialogue Fiji Secretariat proposes and seeks approval for its preferred decision/option through the ‘Secretariat decision approval form’.
- Approval is provided with over 50% of Committee members providing email approval.
- If a Dialogue Fiji Committee member disagrees with the Secretariat’s preferred option/decision, and the disagreement cannot be resolved through amendment and re-approval, final approval will be determined at the following Dialogue Fiji Committee meeting. If necessary an emergency Committee meeting will be called by the Secretariat.
